  • The girls and @danieljewelfilm rescued a hurt adult pigeon today and rushed her off to the wild life rescue centre.   • It’s taken me a minute to process my talk and experience @blackgirlfest yesterday. I was a teary, overexcited hot mess by the end of the day, as I was bursting with pride and a warm fuzzy feeling inside. To see so many amazing women physics students, lawyers, engineers, designers, creatives, singers, mothers, business owners, daughters and more who all looked like me was incredible. My daughters Ola and Adanna also felt the power and pride of the event. For the first time in their lives they weren’t the “black/ mixed girls” in the room. Growing up being “the black one” you are brainwashed into believing what I call #minority mindset” that you are are less than, not worth being catered too and are ignored....thank God the world is changing and the 3,000 women at this event also are no longer accepting this and are embracing their self love and power. I had so many beautiful chats with the audience afterwards and learnt a lot and was totally inspired. For too long people have tried to define me by the colour of my skin, the size of my ass, the texture of my hair and loaded so many negative stereotypes onto to me. To just be yourself and be seen for who you are is such an amazing and simple thing and yesterday I felt seen and lifted up and thanks @paulaakpan @nkrystal_ for creating this powerful and needed space. Thank you @funmifetto my panel sister @poutgena for your open clever sweet self (I’m obsessed by your mum) and @vicsanusi our panel host and @tolly_t for your talent, fierceness and fire.
