My go to everyday look is a day time smokey eye. Catherine Zeta Jones in the noughties was my hero. I don’t have the time I had before the ladies came along and if I can’t smudge and apply my make up in the back of a taxi or riding shotgun en route to school in the mornings I just don’t have time.

I love to create a sexy day appropriate smoked eye on darker skin tones without being boring and blah, by using jewel toned colour with deep chocolates. I find this softer than using black, which can look too harsh and evening red carpet.

I love cranberry and burgundy tones on my skin it’s less obvious and brings out my undertones. Here I slicked my lids with Mac’s Oh My Mocha eyeshadow, £13.50, www.maccosmetics.co.uk. I then lined my eyes with Chanel’s Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Pomme de Pin, £21, www.feelunique.com, which is packed full of pigment and is super smudgy, I also love Eros for a metallic cranberry smokey eye. I finished off the look with a few lashings of YSL’s The Shock Mascara Lash Effect in 03 Bourgogne Brut, £23,www.yslbeauty.co.uk. I love this mascara it feels like the pimped out love child of the original Volume Effet Faux Cils mascara. This soft plum black colour really pops on darker skin and is softer than black for daytime glam. Also if like me you can be sensitive and allergic to lots of modern formulations which promise to lift and curl your lashes and feel a bit plastic, this one doesn’t irritate me at all. There you have it a super quick day time look when you need to look pulled together with minimum effect.
