Lipstick Chess by Lipstick Queen

Poppy King has only gone and done it again with her new launch of lip deliciousness with her Lipstick Chess collection. They’re full coverage matte lipsticks and if you’re like me and don’t do matte, this is the perfect toe dipping experience into all things matte. The colours won’t suck the life out of your lips like a vampiric kiss but rather they have a suede finish laced with vitamin E and natural oils and waxes, which makes it feel smooth and comfortable on the lips. My favourites so far are Queen (for obvious reasons but also because it’s not an in your face red) and Knight a mocha, which looks like my natural lips with the volume pumped up. I like all the colours but the Pawn and Bishop are a touch on the ash side for me but if I line my lips within an inch of their lives in Mac’s Chestnut lip liner it would work.

The lipstick has excellent staying power and makes me feel like a grown up lady when applying them. My teens were in the 90s, which makes me a lipgloss girl -Lancome’s Juicy Tubes and Nars Lip Lacquer in Babydoll anyone?

I saw the movie ‘Allied’ last night with Marion Cotillard who is just pure class and electric in the movie. The costume design, hair and make up was just sumptuous and the amount of cherry red lips Marion rocks made me just want to slather my lips in the Queen shade. In an age where everyone wants to be little girls and dress like teenagers (when they’re old enough to know better), it was so inspiring to see a time when women embraced their femininity and looked like grown women. Pucker up, grab a lipstick and unleash your inner laaaddyyyyy…….
